THE start of the latest Premier League season is just a day away, and we await the big kick-off with great anticipation.
And with lots of questions.
Can Chelsea retain their title; will Manchester City bounce back; have Manchester United got what it takes to challenge for the title; are Arsenal and Liverpool contenders for the biggest prize?
And what about Spurs, who finished second last season? That’s what is first and foremost in the mind of Tottenham legend Glenn Hoddle.
Here Zapsportz.com co-owner and resident columnist Glenn gives his pre season predictions, and focuses on the North London club he played for and managed with such distinction.
After a series of the new Rant blogs here on Zapsportz.com he joins the call for his old club to sign Isco from Real Madrid or Kylian Mbappe from another former club Monaco, or someone as Spurss remain the only big club yet to make a single summer signing.
Mail on Sunday correspondent and respected TV pundit Glenn says: “As for Tottenham, I will hold my fire for the end of the transfer window. It may be that they can pull off some signings in the next month which may surprise us and make last season’s runners up feel they can push on to challenge for the league.
“But it has been a disappointing summer. Losing Kyle Walker to Manchester City was a real crossroads moment. I would have loved for them to think big and try to get Isco or even Kylian Mbappe. Maybe the latter will end up at Real Madrid anyway.
“But Spurs have an opportunity with a young squad, a great manager and a new stadium, to be among the best in Europe. They have to seize it. And you can’t do that on the cheap.”
