The Premier League is certainly well represented in the Champions League – but who’s your money on to progress from the group stages after yesterday’s draw?
Both Manchester clubs look to have favourable draws, whilst Chelsea and Spurs face the Spanish might of Atletico and Real Madrid.
You have to fear for Celtic though as they prepare to face big-spending Paris St Germain and Bayern Munich. Anderlecht might provide a problem too.
Five English clubs will compete in the group stages for the first time – and the first round games kick off on September 12 and 13.
So what do the bookies make of the draw, and who are the early runners and riders?
Here are the initial odds….
Manchester United are 1/2 favourites to progress, whilst Chelsea are posted at 13/10.
Liverpool and Manchester City are odds on to make it to the knock-out stages. But Spurs are 5/1 to progress given the difficult nature of their group.
Needless to say, Real Madrid are installed as firm favourites to win the competition outright, closely followed by Barcelona, Bayern Munich and PSG.
The bookies, at this early stage, make Manchester City the best English bet to triumph. At odds of 12/1 it might be worth a flutter.
