As the season came to a close and one more training session left, there were awards to give out and breaks to be had. The Pompey JPL awards night was when I was away in Canada so I was gutted to miss it but I enjoyed every minute of my holiday.

On the night there were two awards given out, Manager’s player of the season and a Players’ player of the season. The first was the manager’s player of the season and it was won by Finn Smith who was a centre back alongside me most of the season but also played in midfield.

The Players’ Player of the season was won by… Me! Yes I actually won it, and it looks like my efforts throughout  the season paid off nicely and I was very grateful that most of my teammates saw me as a good player for the team and that I had contributed toward our great successes throughout the season.

Just before I went on holiday there were the trials for the JPL next season and quite a few people turned up for it including some more of my friends from the Isle of Wight and one of my friends from my old school on the mainland.

It was a very hot day and tiring even more than normal but I pushed through it and thought I had a good day overall. There weren’t many stand-out performers but that is just my opinion and with the coaches looking to change some players in the squad it would have been a tough decision.

We get the results back tomorrow and it’s just the suspense waiting for the email that is killing me. I have been keeping my fitness up though because once the season stops it is very easy to put on weight but I do not want to do that as I want to be fit and ready for the new season.

Of course I’m relaxing but I want to stay fit at the same time, especially as I have been asked to train with Charlton in the holidays too!

One MLT training session is left for this season and I’m going to go and enjoy it as for 1 month to 2 there is no training at all.

Overall this season has been one of my best and I have enjoyed every bit of it and if I get into the JPL again next season I will just see it as capping off the season nicely.

Over TEN goals this season for a defender is not that bad is it?
