ON this showing Arouna Kone and Romelu Lukako are arguably the most devastating strike partnership in the Premier League.

The best centre backs in Europe wouldn’t fancy playing against this pair when they perform as they did against a woeful Sunderland.

Big Sam Allardyce has got his work cut out, that’s for sure, but at least he won’t come up against a front two like this every week.

Kone took home the match ball after scoring a quality hat-trick, and was ably assisted by Lukaku – amongst others.

Ross Barkley was outstanding and everywhere on the pitch Everton’s players looked so comfortable in possession.

This is how Roberto Martinez wants his team to play and they did with style and a swagger. Control, pass, move, finish…it was all there.

It was a joy to watch at times; like Arsenal and Barcelona in their pomp. The signs are looking good for the Toffees.

Gerard Deulofeu set the ball rolling, and was outstanding throughout, before Kone set Goodison alight, although Sunderland did have their moments either side of half time.

Goals by Jermain Defoe and Steven Fletcher, however, counted for nothing as Everton hit the Black Cats with six of the best to move up to eighth in the table.

If Everton can reproduce this sort of form a European place is not out of the question.

The way they broke at pace and created chance after chance was reminiscent of the Everton side of the mid 80s when they ruled the roost at home and abroad.

There’s more than one team on Merseyside. Are you watching Jurgen Klopp.
