CRISTIANO Ronaldo’s future remains shrouded in doubt with today’s papers providing wildly contrasting views.

Whilst the Sun reports that the Real Madrid star has instructed his agent to negotiate a ‘dream return’ to Manchester United…

….the Daily Star, via Diario Gol, tell us that Jose Mourinho is not interested in bringing Ronaldo back to Old Trafford.

Apparently, that’s because Mourinho feels the 32-year-old is ‘in decline’.

Excuse me, but did anyone see his performances for Real last season? Did he look like a player in decline?

Still fit as a butcher’s dog; still scoring goals for fun – he’s still in his prime.

But, of course, he will come at a cost. Although those costs are very confusing if what the papers are saying today…

Check this lot out and make your own mind up…

  • Manchester United will offer £183m plus their 26-year-old goalkeeper David de Gea in exchange for Ronaldo and Spain striker Alvaro Morata.(Tuttosport via Daily Mail)
  • United will offer Spain international David De Gea and £175m for Ronaldo and pursue Morata, 24, in a separate deal.(Daily Mirror)
  • If De Gea goes to Madrid, then United could move for AC Milan’s 18-year-old Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma as a replacement.(Calciomercato via Metro)

All speculation, of course, but Zapsportz believes Ronaldo will stay at Real Madrid, resolve whatever differences he might have – and continue to reign in Spain.

Why leave the best club in the world? Manager Zinedine Zidane is keen to keep his main man. And has called him to persuade him to stay.
