IT would seem that Jose Mourinho has ruled out a move for Cristiano Ronaldo, deeming it a ‘mission impossible’.

The Manchester United manager is also resigned to missing out on Ronaldo’s Real teammate Alvaro Morata.

Ronaldo, who reportedly wants to leave Spain after being accused of tax fraud, left United in 2009 for a then record £80million.

He has been a revelation in Madrid, scoring a ridiculous amount of goals and winning endless trophies, and United fans would him back in a heartbeat.

But Mourinho is not holding out for a returning hero, and will contrite his efforts elsewhere having already signed Romelu Lukaku for a whopping £75million. With Wayne Rooney going the other way.

There will no doubt be more incomings at Old Trafford before the start of the season – but Ronaldo will not be one of them.

The United boss said as much during United’s customary tour of the United States. And now it seems he has turned his attention to Inter Milan’s Ivan Peresic.

Several papers are this morning reporting via their websites that the Italian giants have accepted a £40million bid from the Manchester club.

The Croatian international winger will become Mourinho’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Lukaku and Victor Lindelof.

However, when asked about the likelihood of a possible move for Ronaldo, Mourinho said it cannot happen due to the ‘economic difficulty’ of doing the deal.

“I am not going to get my club to waste time on players who are mission impossible. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40622623

“Ronaldo is such an important player for his club. A player of great economic power. We have not been able to find any reason that could have made us think that Ronaldo could leave.”

Mourinho added that he did not believe another Real Madrid player, striker Alvaro Morata, will end up at Old Trafford either.

“It is a shame,” he said.”He is a player who made it to the first team with me and I have a special liking for. I enjoyed watching his evolution in Juventus and Madrid.

“But we have not reached an agreement with his club and I don’t think he can end with us.”
