Bookmakers William Hill are claiming a ‘massive gamble’ on John Terry joining Arsenal as punters saw the odds slashed from 33-1 to 5-1…
…with 90 per cent of the bets coming from the Reading area (bizarre, or what?) and a large number placed by new accounts.

Inventive William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly said: ‘The figures would not have been massive but they were massive for a novelty market.”

Not so much a novelty market, as a crazy market. This simply won’t happen. Put your money on that!

Chelsea captain John Terry has announced he will leave the club in the summer

Terry enjoyed a night out with Thierry Henry and Dereck Chisora on Wednesday at a private view for New York artist Bradley Theodore at Maddox Gallery.

He has played almost all of his career at Chelsea, other than six loan games for Nottingham Forest in 2000, making over 700 appearances for his beloved club – almost 600 of them as captain.

“I will always be a Blue and am desperate to end my final season as a Chelsea player with more silverware,” said Terry, whose team have a four-point lead at the top of the Premier League.

“I’ve always been conscious that I depart at the right time, in the right way, and I feel that the end of this season is the right time for the club and I.”
